Fundamentals of Game Design
This was created for my game design class which was to create a system for analog play. Throughout most of our playtesting, we wrote on index cards cut in half with the names of the monsters on them. This went through approximately 15 rounds of playtesting with 3-4 decks of index cards to test out new ideas.
By the final week, we were ready to make a more polished deck. We experimented with different colors to differentiate quickly but also have the titles accessible to those who are color blind. This is the final iteration of our game.
Analog Game Production
In this class, you took an existing system and created more polished prototypes. For this, I wanted a sciency-lab feel so I created a border out of beakers that mimic the style of old Celtic frames for all of the cards. I experimented with font choice and colors but eventually decided to go with black to showcase the art more. The box, the back of the cards, and the updated design were made by myself.

Final Product and Thoughts
The final was printed double-sided with all cards having the poker deck style backing. I resin-printed some potion bottles to be the skill point markers.
While playtesting in this new class I got to meet a lot of folks who have more experience with creating games, we decided to make the game more fair but also competitive by adding two more cards for every monster type. This was decided in the last week of playing so I didn't have time to create drawings for all of the cards. Pictured to the left are examples of what the new cards would've been.
